“When The Elephants Fight, It Is The Grass That Suffers”

As an American who hasn’t experienced widespread war or conflict on our soil in generations, we sit at a distance both physically and emotionally from these countries that seem to be defined by war. We watch the news and it’s mostly bad. The atrocities of war are rightly reported internationally, but often this is all that’s reported. And so we form an opinion about a place and a people that we’ve likely never visited. We assume that they’re all bad rather than understanding that the actions of a few can bring down the entirety.
